TV District Winter Pairs
Two people from Harrow entered this competition this year, which started way
back in October and is played on the first Sunday of each month. Throughout the
season "Dynamic Duo" Nick and Gordon were up there amongst the leaders and
qualified for the final which was held on Mothering Sunday.
Below is a report on that event from the District League Secretary Ged Barton
- The final of the winter pairs was played at Burnham on Sunday 2nd March.
All the qualifying teams attended, the morning session consisting of two
leagues of four being played to ascertain the ‘Main’ and ‘Plate’ Finalists.
- The two league winners, both being unbeaten were ‘Bozos Dos’ and ‘The
Skinheads’ and were joined by the two league runners up to make the ‘Main’
league of four being played in the afternoon.
- The remaining teams formed another league of four to find the ‘Plate’
winner.
- After two rounds in the ‘Main’ competition three of the teams were still
in contention although ‘Bozos Dos’ were favourites having remained unbeaten.
The ‘Eagles’ having lost both of their afternoon games seemed destined to be
out of contention.
- Bozos Dos saw out the day by winning their last game 13 – 8 against The
Skinheads.
- The Eagles won their last game 13 – 7 against the GI Blues.
- This 11 points difference enabled the Eagles to take 2nd place.
- In the Plate finals Dynamic Duo’ (Nick and Gordon, Ed) won all
there afternoon games to take this trophy with ‘Mr & Mrs’, our Regional
President (Mark) and his wife (Helen), taking 2nd place.
TV District League Cup 2007
Bad news on Tuesday 18th both Harrow teams were knocked out!
Two of the Semi Finals were played at Harrow, unfortunately Boyne Hill
Sinners could not field a team so only Microscope and Boyne Hill Saints played.
The triples finished with one games all so it was down to the doubles to see who
went forward. Boyne Hill surged ahead in two of the games, while the "Maidenhead
reporter" at one time was well behind something like 8:0. He went on to win.
The Microscope "juniors" were well behind but fought back to gain a respectful
defeat.

Final Round
Harrow Karrow v Saints @ Harrow ~ Harrow win 5:0 Saints conceded the game
Harrow Seniors v Bozos @ Boyne Hill~ Harrow win 3:2
- Ged says:-
- Dear All
So the Mid Week season finishes for this year.
Div 1
No surprises here with the Eagles going through the season unbeaten and
becoming champions for yet another year.
Congratulations to Harrow Karrow on achieving second place.
The relegation issue went to the wire.
MTTA and Harrow Seniors went into the last match needing victories and
succeeded in doing so. The second relegation spot finally went to Harrow
Seniors, their 3-2 win was surpassed by the 4-1 win by MTTA.
MTTA survived by having a better games difference. (HPC Webmaster. If the
result had been 3:2 then MTTA would have been relegated on points
difference)
Commiserations to Burnham Spinners & Harrow Seniors, who return to the
second division after only one season.
Div 2
The second promotion spot also was decided on the last game of the season.
The Acorns victory at the Fox & Hounds meant that a win by Boyne Hill
Sinners at home against lowly placed Cuckoo’s would ensure them the second
place.
The Sinners raced ahead 2-0 in the triples and promotion was in their grasp.
However, the Cuckoo’s then jumped into their nest during the pairs to take
all three games to secure a fine 3-2 victory.
So the Cuckoo’s joined the Alberts with both gaining good away wins against
the two promotion rivals.
Congratulations to the Fox & Hounds who return to Div 1 after an absence of
two years.
Round Thirteen
Harrow Karrow v Burnham Spinners@ Burnham ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors v Eagles @ Harrow~ Harrow lose 3:2
Round Twelve
Harrow Karrow v Kodiaks at Harrow ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors v MTTA at MTTA ~ Harrow lose 3:2
- Ged says:-
-
- Div 1
Congratulations to the EAGLES on winning this division with three matches
yet to play.
In their latest match the Spinners could not repeat their early season’s
excellent performance and lost 5-0 and only scored 14 points in the process.
This was a good come back after the lack of points scored in both triples.
As a result of this defeat the Spinners are now relegated. I am sure they
have enjoyed their short stay in Div 1 and the experience gained will hold
them in good stead in next years attempt to gain an immediate return to this
division.
The struggle between the teams 2nd & third in the table resulted in a 3-2
win for Harrow Karrow against the Kodiaks. With the Kodiaks having to play
the Eagles in the final game of the season the favourites for 2nd place are
now Harrow K.
BH Saints confirmed their mid table status with a 3-2 win over the Bozo’s, (
sorry Maidenhead reporter about the lack of points in your doubles game )
this leaves the Bozo’s as still possible relegation candidates although
Harrow Seniors are playing the Eagles next week.
A fine win for MTTA against Harrow Seniors gives them a good chance to avoid
relegation. Although their game in hand is against the Eagles the fight to
avoid relegation can be achieved.
Div 2
Congratulations to the ACORNS on winning this division.
A close 3-2 victory for the Acorns over the Cygnets together with the
Sinners losing at Tilehurst meant that the Acorns cannot be caught.
The battle for the second promotion place is still on with four teams in
contention.
Microscope, who won 4-1 against the Cuckoo’s are perhaps the outsiders as
they have only one more game to play. However that is at home to the Fox &
Hounds, who are also contenders. This is obviously a must win for game for
both teams.
The Cygnets can still make it but they play the Sinners next. Yet another
must win game for both teams.
The Fox & Hounds returned to winning ways (following two successive defeats)
in beating close rivals Boyne Hill Sinners 4-1.
They are now in 2nd place on games won.
The Sinners have dropped to 4th place although on equal points with the two
teams above them. The loss at the Foxes means they still have some work to
do.
I believe next weeks results will go a long way in deciding the outcome
although they will not be decisive.
Round Eleven
Harrow Karrow v Eagles at Burnham ~ Harrow lose 3:2
Harrow Seniors v Burnham Spinners @ Harrow ~ Harrow lose 3:2 but plus 10!
- Ged says:-
-
- Div 1
The top match this week resulted in an apparent close win (3-2) for the
Eagles against Harrow Karrow. However, the points recorded show a different
story with the Eagles winning the opening triples 13-0 & 13-1. Still, well
played harrow in fighting back to win two of the three pairs.
The Kodiaks climb into 2nd place following an excellent win over the Saints
in what appears to have been a close contest (3-2, 56-51).
The Bozos scored a somewhat easier win (5-0) against MTTA to ease their
relegation fears although the threat still remains.
Burnham Spinners excellent second win of the season (against Harrow Seniors
3-2) (plus 10 to Harrow though, Harrow webmaster) gives them a
fighting chance to avoid relegation.
At the top of the table the fight for second place is between the Kodiaks &
Harrow Seniors (Karrow surely Ged) although the Saints can
still grab this position.
Relegation is still possible for each of the bottom four clubs. This may
well go down to the last match of the season when all four are involved in
matches against each other.
Penalty Point
I reminded all clubs earlier in the season about sending me the scorecards
in the envelopes provided this year. By using last years envelopes without
paying the correct postage leaves me to visit the sorting office to collect
the mail.
Harrow Karrow took no notice of this reminder and as a result they have been
deducted 1 league match point.
Div 2
This week saw the Acorns cruise pass the Alberts (5-0) who were on the up
following last week’s victory at the Foxes.
The Cygnets returned to winning ways with a close (3-2, 54-55) home win
against the Fox & Hounds. This victory gives the Cygnets an outside chance
of promotion whilst the defeat for the Foxes loses them second place in the
league and dents their promotion hopes.
The Sinners continue their recent run of victories with a narrow win over
Microscope (3-2, 50-48) to take second place. Their next match, away to the
Fox & Hounds, may well decide the fate of both teams in this battle.
Off the Piste
I must take my senior editor to task for even insinuating the Saints would
do the Sinners a favour. Remember the Sinners beat us in the Club Team
Championship. And before you say it Gerald. The young newcomer played for
the Sinners that day. I would like to put everyone at ease THE SAINTS DO NOT
THROW GAMES. It is hard enough to win them.!!!!!
A great atmosphere at the Kodiaks Tuesday evening. Super muddy piste
contributed to a good game throughout.
If the Kodiaks bounce back up in the weekend next season. Watch the size of
the trophies.
Congrats to the Oak for their continued winning run. I hope the fact they
were beaten back to back by the Sinners has not influenced the deduction of
a point for the Sinners in the weekend league
Junior Reporter
Ronnie
Ed, Oak do not play week end I can fully understand that the Saints find it
hard to win!!!!
Ged
Round Ten
Harrow Karrow v Harrow Seniors @ Harrow ~ Harrow Karrow Home match Harrow
Karrow win 3:2
- Ged says:-
-
- Mid Week Div 1
EAGLES ARE BEATEN 13 – 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Table toppers the Eagles beat the Saints 4-1 at Boyne Hill but suffered
their first fanny for many a year on the way. Well done Dave Eaton & Paul
Webb
The Eagles also set a new record in this match. In the three doubles none of
their players held a Thames Valley Licence. In fact they introduced a new
player from the London Region.
In the two triples the Valley had just one representative in the two teams.
I am so glad that Les Stuart had returned from holiday.
Harrow Karrow maintain second place following a close 3-2 win over Harrow
Seniors. However Harrow Karrow may well be deducted point(s) for sending in
the scorecard with incorrect postage (see below).
Although I have made a few comments about the Kodiaks in the Week End league
I must admire their performances in this league. They recorded another
victory, this time beating a 5 player MTTA team 4-1 (64-17). In accordance
with my Maidenhead reporter’s comments below I will refrain from reporting
on who lost the one game. Suffice to say that they could be the EPA
internationals
They are now third in the league and their match against Harrow Karrow on
10th July could decide which team will be second.
The Saints are having an opposite season to the Kodiaks. Whilst being
‘almost’ champions of the Week End League their performance in this league
is, I am sure, rather disappointing to them. The difference between the two
teams playing Mid Week & Week End seems to be the regular winning ways of
their week end player lent to them by the Acorns!
Div 2
ALBERTS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Alberts travelled to second placed Fox & Hounds and come away with a
fine first of the season victory 3-2. Well played.
With the Acorns beating the Cuckoo’s 4-1 this enabled them to go 4 points
clear at the top.
Microscope’s close 3-2 (49-48) win at home against the Cygnets leaves the
fight for promotion still wide open with 3 teams having 10 points.
The Sinners must be well pleased with the way the results went during their
bye week. In the next two weeks they play Microscope (home) & then Fox &
Hounds (away). These matches may well decide one or both of the promotion
places.
The Acorns are far from certain of promotion with an away match against the
Fox & Hounds to come.
Off the Piste
I would like to thank Harrow Seniors for their hospitality on a very dull
Tuesday evening. The match was played in an excellent spirit with everybody
having a good laugh and making the play last until 10.30.We all got home
after midnight but a great time was had by all. Yours truly winning 2 games
was a bonus. (Ed true!)
Not much too report as I have been out of action. However it does appear to
me that the Blackall family are getting somewhat over exposed by the Editor
of late.
Ron (Maidenhead man)
Points warning
Earlier in the season I notified all teams of the need to ensure that the
scorecards be sent to me in the envelopes provided at the beginning of the
season. By using last seasons envelopes team captains incur higher postage
charges. Surprisingly a team has ignored this request, resulting in the late
arrival of the scorecard and incurring a surcharge of £1.06 and collection
from the sorting office. It was stated that future offending teams may incur
penalties.
Oh Happy days
Best wishes to all
Well, Ed , we (The Saints) tried another strategy against the Eagles super
team but alas we were again outclassed, although our captain was more than
happy the way we played. In my particular games our front pointer was on the
cosh most of the time but the dreaded Billy Baxter shot us off the piste. He
was ably backed up by Hit Man Hervey and Pot Shot Phillip. It hurts me to
say it but they are almost unbeatable. If this team entered the National Club Championships, I can't see a club
team touching them. We were astounded when a spectator they brought along, suddenly produced a
licence and made his debut for the Burnham club. I have to ask if this is a
record. At one time on Tuesday evening three teams were playing without a
Thames Valley player amongst them. I will leave you to work that one out. If
we could get another three teams like this we could have another league.
Possibly a Super League. The Eagles team on Tuesday were without Racheed and Paul Lance , oh god!
With them playing I think we would have lost 20 nil. However, the result of
the evening must have been Big Paul and Deft David fannying Master Martin
and Hit man Hervey. We to give our sympathy to the Foxes player who played a master shot in
securing their relegation. But they will be back. I am sure Infact the
District Chairman has already stated. If they bounce back next season .The
trophies will be the biggest on record.
- Ron (Maidenhead man)
Round Nine
Harrow Karrow v Bozos @ Boyn Hill ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors v Saints @ Harrow ~ Harrow lose 4:1
- Ged Says:-
- Yet another week goes by and there are no real surprises this week
M Wk Div 1
Eagles remain on top although their match against MTTA has been delayed.
Harrow K returned to winning ways with a good 3-2 win at the Bozo’s.
Link the Bozo’s defeat with Harrow Seniors home mauling by BH Saints (nice
to see my cub reporter returning to winning ways) means that both teams are
being drawn into the relegation battle with only one win separating them
from 7th placed MTTA.
Kodiaks confirmed their mid table position with a 4-1 home win against the
Spinners. I note that their imported Southern Region player failed to win a
game (although to be fair he only played one game & I understand he was
suffering from jet lag).
M Wk Div 2
It was noted last week that the BH Sinners were returning to form and they
continued this winning run with a fine (and not unexpected) home win (3-2)
against league leaders Acorns. With the Foxes winning against the Cuckoo’s
after their summer break the fight for promotion is still wide open. The
Cygnets & Microscope can still join the race.
Yet again the luckless Alberts lost 3-2 so near yet so far.
So summer has arrived at last Wimbledon starts next week so I am sure the
rain will be with us for a while yet.
Have fun at work not so good being retired when it’s raining.
Round Eight
Harrow Karrow v MTTA @ HArrow ~ Harrow lose 4:1
Harrow Seniors v Kodiaks @ Fox and Hounds ~ Harrow lose 4:1
- Ged Says:-
-
- M Wk Div 1
Some very interesting results this week
The Bozo’s took 2 games from the Eagles in a match where the Eagles Captain
played his first match of the season.
The Kodiaks won 4-1 against the H Seniors with our League Chairman narrowly
avoiding the dreaded zero in the one game they lost. ( the Harrow
webmaster was partly responsible for that!)
But the best performances were in the remaining two matches
The Spinners recorded their first win of the season with fine 3-2 win at
home against the BH Saints. My Maidenhead reporter lost both of his games in
scoring only six points all evening, these being all scored in one game so
you can all guess the result in the other game!!! Hard luck, Dean, in having
to suffer the same fate. The big man must be worried about his forthcoming
‘drag’ performance!!
MTTA travelled to Harrow to play H Karrow, who were currently 2nd in the
table. MTTA recorded a fine victory 4-1 with, so I am told, a rare
celebratory dance being performed by their captain at the end. That must
have been a sight, glad I missed it.
So much for my half term report last week concerning the Spinners & MTTA,
congratulations to them both on their victories.
M Wk Div 2
No surprises in this division with all of last weeks victorious teams
winning the return fixtures.
Although the Acorns are in a good position there is plenty to play for with,
I think, any 2 of the top four teams contenders for promotion.
The Alberts suffered yet another 3-2 defeat. Come on, please reverse this
score line.
Round Seven
Harrow Karrow v MTTA @ MTTA ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors v Kodiaks @ Harrow ~ Harrow lose 3:2
- Ged Says:-
-
- MW 1
The Bozo’s became the second team to take a game off the Eagle’s following
their 4-1 defeat. They only lost another game 13-12. With Harrow K winning
at MTTA it is beginning to look like a 2 horse race for the championship.
Kodiaks long distance travelling had its rewards in a win at Harrow K (Ged
actuallyu the Seniors a.d.p.) and this puts them into 3rd place.
The Saints recorded their expected win against the Spinners who remain
without a win this season.
As last years Champions are seemingly unbeatable this season and look to
record another table topper (although Harrow K may have something to say
about this), the relegation positions have been filled by MTTA & the
Spinners who are now 2 & 3 wins away from safety. I think a betting shop
owner would stop taking all bets at this stage. However, last season the
Cygnets were bottom of the Div 2 at one stage but recovered well to narrowly
miss promotion. I expect I will be proved wrong again.
MW2
The Acorns take top spot following their 4-1 win at Microscope with the Fox
& Hounds having a bye round. It is noted that super sub lost his first game
of the season and has been dropped for the next two games. However he did
have a handicap in playing with a ten year old (see Ron’s report below)
As predicted last week, the Cygnets had a difficult match to win at the
Cuckoo’s if they were to take second place. So it proved with the Cuckoo’s
recoding a victory of Eagles proportions, 5-0, 65-18.
The Sinners recorded their third win of the season at the Steps who, like
the Spinners are looking for their first win of the season.
Consecutive victories suggest that at last the Sinners are beginning to play
to their potential and they are still promotion contenders.
Round Six
Harrow Karrow v Boyne Hill Saints ~ Harrow win 4:1 ~ match played on Friday
1st June
Harrow Seniors v Bozos @ Harrow ~ Harrow win 3:2
- Ged says:-
-
- Dear All
With A few of last weeks matches having been arranged for various reasons I
decided to hold back this weeks report until all the results were received.
Div 1
We have yet to reach the half way stage and already we have early signs of
how the table will look like at the end of the season.
With the favourites (Eagles) remaining unbeaten it seems that Harrow Karrow
are the best of the remainder.
In the basement battle this week MTTA emerged as winners against the
Spinners. However, I am sure that there will be more twists and turns as the
season progresses and my comments will be completely wrong.
Div 2
By comparison this league is highly competitive with three teams’ in pole
position with 8 points. With the Fox & Hounds having their bye in the next
two rounds it is probable that this may change, although both the Acorns and
Cygnets have difficult matches against Microscope and the Cuckoos
respectively.
-
Round Five
Harrow Karrow v Burnham Spinners ~ Harrow win 4:1 against a depleted 4 man
team from Burnham
Harrow Seniors v Eagles @ Burnham Harrow lose 5:0 -42
- Ged says:-
-
- M/W Div 1
Eagles continue on their merry way with another 5-0 victory
Kodiaks (with only 2 of the Blackall family present) pull off a fine 3-2
victory at the Bozo’s
MTTA continue to look for their first win of the season, this time losing at
home to B H saints 2-3.
The Spinners let themselves down badly with only 4 players making the trip
to Harrow, losing 4-1.
They also are seeking their first victory of the season.
M/W Div 2
It seems that this could be an interesting season for those teams looking
for promotion.
Three teams have only lost 1 match this season so far.
With Acorns having a rest the Fox & Hounds regained top spot with an
outstanding 5-0 win at B H Sinners (last week’s late result) and a 4-1 home
win against Microscope.
The Cygnets continued B H Sinners woes with a 3-2 win at Boyne Hill.
The basement clash saw the Cuckoo’s winning 4-1 against the Alberts.
Round Four
Harrow Karrow v Kodiaks @ Fox and Hounds ~
Harrow Seniors v MTTA @ Harrow ~ Harrow win 3:2
Round Three
Harrow Karrow v Burnham Eagles @ Harrow ~ Harrow lose 5:0 -52
Harrow Seniors v Burnhan Spinners @ Boyne Hill ~ Harrow win 3:2
- Modesty prevents the editor from
saying how well he shot in the doubles with Tom C!!
-
- Ged says:-
-
- It seems the Mid Week winning captains are taking it in turns to send in
late results, yet again I am unable to send a full result sheet.
After last years excellent performance the standards are slipping this year.
Div 1
Last weeks league leaders the Kodiaks suffered their first defeat of the
season
The Eagles continue with their winning ways with another 5-0 result. They
have yet to loose a game this season. Are they aiming for a new record?
Harrow Seniors won the basement battle with the Spinners who still await
their first win of the season.
Div 2
This season looks as if it could be very interesting with four teams having
equal points at the top of the table.
The Alberts continue to being near to victory, going down 3-2 in a close
match with the Acorns
My Maidenhead reporter has been unwell lately following a nose job!!
Seriously Ron, hope you are recovering well and we look forward to receiving
your biased reports again
Round Two
Harrow Seniors v Harrow Karrow @ Harrow Harrow Seniors "home" match ~ Harrow
K win 5:0
Round One
Harrow Karrow v Bozos @ Harrow ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors v Boyne Hill Saints @ Boyne Hill ~ Harrow lose 2:3

Mid Week
The Eagles commence as they finished last season with a 5-0 victory
The Blackall team (sorry, Kodiaks) record their first win of the
season
Congratulation to Bozos Spanish star Seve (Steve Sellwood) on his
debut for the season in recording the seasons first fanny, but the
idea in this game is to win not lose.!!!

Thames Valley District Winter Pairs 2006/7
Table
John Anderson and John Riches, as the "Two Js" and Tom Creak and Andrew
Prince as "The Tykes" have entered this competition, we are able to do so this
year as it has returned to a district event rather than a Thames Valley Region.
We have both been drawn in the same league of 7 teams so each team will get a
bye. First match on October 1st saw the Tykes with a bye and the Two Js
playing Neil and Alistair at The Steps. John A was still in France so Joe
stepped in. The Two Js won 2:1..

Thames Valley District League Cup 2006
Harrow Seniors and Harrow Karrow entered this competition this year.
There are 13 teams so Ged had to do some complicated qualification method.
Harrow Seniors were drawn away to Kodiaks and lost 4:1 Harrow Karrow were
at home to Acorns and won 4:1 Thus the Seniors are in the plate and will
play Boyne Hill Sinners at home on the 3rd October and Harrow Karrow will play
Eagles away.
Harrow Karrow lost to the Eagles, and thus are out of the competition.
Harrow Seniors won and then went on to play the Cuckoos in the Semi final which
they won. in the final Harrow Seniors met Burnham Spinners which they lost in a
closely fought match 3:2. Eagles were the winners in the Main.

Round 14
Harrow Karrow v Boyne Hill Sinners @ Boyne Hill ~ Harrow win 3:2
Harrow Seniors ~ Bye
- Ged Says
- Yet another league season finishes with many of us saying ‘ if
only ‘
Div 1
We congratulated the Eagles last week well done to the Bozos in
coming second, I note the overseas star played again for them and
won his 2 games but the team still lost to MTTA.
In the MTTA team it was good to see Gussie returning to the team
now seems fully recovered from his ‘op’, danger to us all he can
now see again!!
The fight for second place was open to four teams throughout the
season and perhaps provided the main interest when it was apparent
from early in the season that the relegated teams would be the
Acorns & Microscope.
Of the promoted teams MTTA played well and remain in the top flight
whilst Microscope finish the season without a win taking over from
the Albert’s of Div 2
Well done MTTA equal games & points is this a first?
Yours truly wants the season to start now last week I recorded my
first league win this week even better 2 wins!!! although the
opposition was …………. Perhaps no comment as it was the Chairman’s
club
Div 2
As in Div 1 we congratulated Harrow Seniors on being the unbeaten
Champions.
Second place goes to the Spinners, who obtain promotion on games
difference over MTTA Cygnets. Earlier in the season MTTA were in
last position, perhaps good form early in the season next year would
help them gain promotion.
The Sinners fell away after a bright start whilst the Blackall
family (sorry, the ‘Foxes’) fought gallantly.
The Cuckoo’s performed well but as the games won / lost shows they
lost many of their matches 3 – 2 so a higher league position was not
far away.
Pride of place must go to the Albert’s. Yes, last again but this
time with 2 victories I will send Eileen the famous score card from
their match played on 30th May away at MTTA recording their first
win with YIPEE!scrawled across it. For perseverance top place must
go to the Albert’s
May thanks to you all my job was made all the easier by your prompt
return of the scorecards
If my humour has upset anyone, my apologies, but the reports were
meant to bring some light relief
Round 8 rearranged
Harrow Karrow v Eagles @Harrow ~ Harrow lose 4:1
Round 13
Harrow Karrow v Microscope @ Harrow
Harrow Seniors v Cuckoos @ Firefly ~ Harrow win 4:1
This result, for Harrow Seniors, means they are un-defeated through out
the whole season!
- Ged says about the midweek league
- So we come to the finale
Div 1
Congrats to the Eagles on retaining there title, obviously the best
team by far, but were made to work for it , particularly by the
Bozo’s who secured the only victory against them this season so
far and the Kodiaks who lost both matches 3 – 2.
The tables issued do not include the points scored in the
Harrow/Microscope match as the card has not been recd. With a 4 – 1
victory I would expect the points to be in favour of Harrow &
therefore they would move above the Saints.
So who will come 2nd? Bozos must be favourites, needing only to
avoid a 5 – 0 defeat at MTTA. Should the Bozos lose by that score
then either the Saints or Harrow could take 2nd place if either side
win 5 – 0. In this case points difference come into the equation. As
the two teams meet on Tuesday ‘winner could take all’
Div 2
Congrats to Harrow Seniors who complete the season as champions and
as the only unbeaten side in all of the leagues. This was achieved
with the team consisting of players from their own region only.
2nd place is still a race between the Spinners & MTTA Cygnets.
Spinners can lose 3 – 2 to the Cuckoos and still be promoted.
Should MTTA not win 5 – 0 against the Acorns
- Ged says about the weekend league:
-
- W/End Div 1
Championship will be decided on Sunday next when the Saints meet the
Bruins. The Bruins need to win 6 – 1 to be certain, 5 - 2 may
achieve the desired result for them but points difference is
currently in the Saints favour.Rumour has it that the Bruins are
flying in there own superstar from Spain for this crunch match.
Recently the Saints beat the Bozos 5 – 0 in a Mid Week match so they
should be confident, however the Saints were crushed by the Eagles
in this weeks Mid week match 5 – 0 [65 – 9 ] so has there confidence
been dented?
I await, with interest, the match report from my Maidenhead
correspondent. At least the relegation issues have been resolved
with the Eagles latest defeat pushing them into Div 2.
Who would have believed the Eagles would be associated with
relegation? It seems that they are not the same team without the
imports. Will they be replaced in Div 1 by their fellow club team
the Budgies next season?
On a serious note - Best wishes from us all to Mike Adams, who
travels next week to Brompton Hospital for his big ‘op’
W/End Div 2
Promotion issues are still open with three teams, Jolly Farmer – B H
Sinners – Budgies all still in with a chance although The Jolly
Farmer are best positioned to take one of the spots.
Final table positions decided on match points, games difference,
points difference.
Best of luck to you all isn’t this hot weather great? Not having to
go to work just relaxing in the garden with a long cool drink. I do
miss going to work !!! and I have been celebrating at last I won my
first league game of the season on Tuesday better late than never!
Maidenhead correspondent (Ron G) says:
Thank you ED ( editor ) not Ged with the G missing.
The Egham reporter is correct in saying the Saints got trounced by
the Eagles. Playing a game and being back in the club house by 9pm
is not our idea of enjoyment.
The Saints are the first to acknowledge that the Eagles are
different class. I keep hearing that this will only help the Valley,
playing against these superstars. Would they not help the Valley if
they split their selves up amongst our teams or indeed got a T.V
licence .Now that would really help the Valley.
The Maidenhead reporter did not start playing the game until he was
58 so to reach the Eagles level was probably unachievable. However
we are very proud at Boyne Hill to have over the last few years
provided the Regional Triples winners and the Regional Pairs winners
on two occasions. We also achieved reaching being the Regional no 2
last season and the Regional no 4 this season ,and to top that The
Boyne Hill Bozos are indeed the no 1 regional team this season, so
you see folks we ain't done too bad.
We must also mention when trawling as St Marks, were not out of the
top two in the so called Micky Mouse Sunday league for approx 10
years.
However congratulations to the Eagles we are in awe of you .But to
one of their team who shall remain nameless we are not a bunch of
cissies because we all have the same matching shirts .
See you all at the presentation night.

MTTA continue winning streak with 5 – 0 win over under strength

clubs with a 5 – 0 win against Microscope
It would seem that the only place up for grabs is 2nd

At the end of the season Harrow Seniors are relegated to Division Two along
with the Fox who needed to win, assuming that Bovingdon Acorns lost, to remain
in Division One.
Harrow Juniors finish the season in Third place, well done.
Thames Valley League Cup 2004
There are only 12 teams entered this year including the two from Harrow,
funnily enough both Harrow teams were drawn against each other in the first
round. Harrow Juniors were victorious and went through to the main with the
Seniors into the plate.
In round two the Seniors were drawn against Bozos at Home and were victorious
with a 4:1 win. The Juniors were awarded a bye.
Round three saw the Seniors playing Bovingdon at St Marks which they won 4 :1
and the Juniors against Microscope at Bird Hills (Microscope also having been
awarded a bye in round 2), which they won 4 :1
So both Harrow clubs are in the finals which will be played at St Marks. The
Juniors will play the Eagles the Seniors will play Cuckoos.
Harrow seniors lost 3:2 with the final game being the decider, Rene and Alan
fighting back but not quiet making it.
The Juniors won 3:2 and again it was down to the last game to decide, Eagles
only loosing the final game to 10.
Harrow have two teams in this league this year, "Harrow Seniors" in Division
1 and "Harrow Juniors" also in Division 1.
So final results look like Harrow Seniors remain in Division 1 with Harrow
Juniors coming second in a controversial end to the season.
